I love what Psalm 100 tells us...
Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before Him, singing with joy.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
He made us, and we are His.
We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with Thanksgiving;
Go into His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever,
And His faithfulness continues to each generation.
It is true that the meaning of this psalm is to give thanks and praise to our Creator. We are on here in the first place to serve Him and fulfill the mission he assigns for each one of us. He owns us and we are made for his pleasure. This is the reality that most of us have ignored for so long. Our soul longs for His healing. But we failed to recognize His existence and instead we rely on ourselves strength. Most of the time we failed to acknowledge all He has done for us. And that is a very sad situation for most of us.
We were made for this – for the giving of thanks and the whole-hearted acknowledging of our Creator. We will do this forever. We are never really happy until we are doing this. This is not just one day out of the year to give thanks. It is our way of life every day – our lifeline with sanity, our tie to the real reason we are alive.
We are here because of Him. Let’s not forget to give Him praise and thanks not just on Thanks Giving Day but everyday.
